To effectively grow your business, your networking must be consistent, strategic, focused, and measured. With all the virtual and now some face-to-face networking opportunities, choosing the right groups and events is essential.
It’s an investment of your time, energy, and dollars, so you should be planning for a return, benefit, or gain, while bringing value to the participants. Consider what’s your purpose? What are your business goals? What would you like to accomplish? What are the fees, dues, sponsorships, door prizes, etc.?
Decide who you want to hang out with and refer. It’s about developing relationships with like-minded, like-hearted individuals. Be realistic in knowing that everyone is NOT your ideal client and that “qualified prospects” have a want or need, are the decision-maker, and have the $$$ to invest. Consider that you can earn more than one customer at a time by developing rapport with strategic referral partners and potentially work with, for, and on behalf of mutual clients.
Active participation in networking is your golden ticket! Stop selling and start helping! Be a resource and expert! Networking is all about Making an Introduction and Gaining Favorable Attention!
